text-overflow: ellipsis not working in Mac Os

i have a iframe page where i uplaod file after there is a three dot by which we click and download the file.I have used below code

white-space:nowrap;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;max-width:300px;

for shorten the filename it is working fine in the windows operating system.But when we see same page in Mac Os the three dots beyond page so we can not see the three dot hence can not download.Anybody help me out
