In this article I will explain how to make the markers Draggable in Google Maps V3 with example i.e. how to drag and drop markers in Google Maps using JavaScript.
In additional to the drag drop functionality, I will also explain how to get the location details i.e. Latitude, Longitude and Address when the marker is dropped using the marker dragend event.
Drag and Drop Markers in Google Maps using JavaScript
The Google Maps is populated using an array consisting of some locations. In order to make the markers draggable, you will need to set the draggable property to true when initializing the Google Map marker object.
Now if you need to capture the geographical details of the location where the marker is dropped, you need to implement dragend event handler of the marker which is invoked once the marker is dropped at some place on the map.
Inside the dragend event handler, you can easily get the Latitude and Longitude of the location and if you wish to extend further, you can make use of the Google Maps GeoLocation API and using the Latitude and Longitude of the location you can easily find its Address.
Note: For more details on the Google Maps GeoLocation API, please refer my article Google Maps GeoLocation API Example.
