JavaScript ChildElementCount does not work in Internet Explorer (IE) 8 and below

Hi,

I have a function to add dynamic textboxes where I use childelementcount to get the count of the child nodes. But unfortunately this doesn't work in IE 8 and below(works fine otherwise in all the other browsers). So I tried childNodes.Length. But it sets the maximum to be different in each browser. Below is the code. Would appreciate some help guys.

 function AddTextBox() {

        if (document.getElementById("TextBoxContainer").childNodes.length < 21) {
            var div = document.createElement('DIV');
            div.innerHTML = GetDynamicTextBox("");
            document.getElementById("TextBoxContainer").appendChild(div);
        }
    }
