Upgrade to SQL Server 2012 Express causes Login failed error

I have installed MS SQL Server 2012 Express with Advanced Services. I did not make any changes to my ASP.NET application, just restored a database from a backup. Before the SQL Express 2012 I was using SQL Express 2008 with no issues.

Since the SQL Express 2012 was installed, my application is not longer able to login to SQL. I use the same user and the same web.config setup. I receive "Login failed for user 'ASPNET_User'."

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Tried also with localhost like this

<add name="EStoreConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=localhost\SQLEXPRESS;database=DobryCajCz;uid=ASPNET_User;pwd=xxxxxxxxx ;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>

with no difference in behaviour.

Since you upgraded the SQL Server version you need to again create Logins into your database.

I did not make an upgrade but a fresh install of SQL Express 2012 and of course I created all logins.

I tried to run the application with a Windows user (SQL user with a login) and also a SQL user without a login, neither worked for me.

Ae you able to access your database via SQL Server Management Studio?
