How to disable link button if GridView is not present in a page

Hi there, first of all you need to make your button invisible by default as like

<asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButtonExport" Text="Export to Excel" runat="server" OnClick="LinkButtonExport_Click" Visible="false"/>

and then wherever you need to make it visible by using following code you can do that

Page.Master.FindControl("LinkButtonExport").Visible = true;

Better to add this line of code in the method or block wherever you are binding your grids.

It's not working. Is there any alternate method to do the same.

Hi there, this is the only possible and simplest method or way as far as my knowledge is concern. So please let me know that what kind of issues or error you are getting because it is working well on my machine. Have u made both of the suggested changes viz. making invisible on materpage and make it visible whenever required., As for now make it invisible and then on some of the page make it visible by the suggested code in page lode event and let me know wheather it is working or not...?

When it's given in page load there is no problem it's working fine. In my case I have LinkButton in master page for export. In aspx page let's say test.aspx, Link Button is visible since I have it in master page. The gridview will be loaded only when button is clicked in test.aspx page. Before the gridview is loaded, if I click on export it will export a blank excel. I have tried by placing the code Page.Mater.FindControl("LinkButtonExport").visible=false; in page_load of Test.aspx page which makes the export link button invisible. As of now it's fine. If I click on button which is in Test.aspx the gridview will be loaded and I need export link button to be visible. i.e What I need is if GridView is not present in a page the export linkbutton should be disabled, if gridview is present then export linkbutton should be enabled/visible.

You needs to apply the following line of code change the ID of your gridView, Once again I would request you to make the link Visible="false" as I mentioned In My very first reply to this thread, then just add a single lile of code beneath your gridView bindig code it would definitely work.
