How to set default selected value of DropDownList using C# in ASP.Net

Hi jordan,

After binding the dropdownlist in page load write the below code to set default value.

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    if (!IsPostBack)
    {
        BindCountry();
        ddlCountry.Items.FindByText("India").Selected = true;
    }
}

 public void FillCountry()
    {
        clsCountry objCountry = new clsCountry(true);
        objCountry.SelectAllWhere("");
        ddlCountry.DataSource = objCountry.ListclsCountry;
        ddlCountry.DataTextField = "CountryName";
        ddlCountry.DataValueField = "CountryID";
        ddlCountry.DataBind();
        ddlCountry.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("India", "0"));
        objCountry = null;
    }
