Oh Lord, I have never worked on a project that is as frustrating as this.

When one complicated problem is solved, just when I think I am done, another problem comes up.

A few days ago, Dharmendr was kind enough to help me solve this problem on this link (pages 2 and 3).

Right now, what is happening is that when I enter an account number and no record exists for that account number, I can enter records, click submit and everything is saved just fine.

The issue is if I enter an account number and it pulls up the existing records, if I just make one change and click submit, I get the following error:

Index was outside the bounds of the array.

That error points to this block of code in the markup:

These parts are part of the C#

SetInitialRow() AddNewRowToGrid()

and they can be seen on the line I posted.

I am hoping and praying these will finally fix the issues for this stupid project.

Hi simflex,

Try to put debug and check the two DataTable dtAirInfoTable and regtable. What are the column names in both the datatable and check the ItemArray index in both the table.

Hi Dharmendr,

Many thanks again for your assistance.

Here is what I found.

dtAirInfoTable Datatable has the following columns:

MarineRegNo VesselRegNo TaxPyrRetVal VesselTaxPyrRetdVal

regtable datatable is supposed to have the following:

txBoatRegNum txTaxPayerRet txVesselRegNum txVTaxPayerRet

but it doesnt show them in the columns row.

I had to drill down to find the following:

MarineRegNo VesselRegNo TaxPyrRetVal VesselTaxPyrRetdVal

Then ItemArray has

txBoatRegNum txTaxPayerRet txVesselRegNum txVTaxPayerRet

However, the value for txBoatRegNum is BP900 which is

row.ItemArray[1] but it is wrong.

That value belongs to txVesselRegNum which is

row.ItemArray[4] but not only does it not have that value, it doesn't even show it as an array.

By the way, txBoatRegNum is supposed to have same value as MarineRegNo, txTaxPayerRet is supposed to have same value as TaxPyrRetVal,

txVesselRegNum is supposed to have same value as VesselRegNo and txVTaxPayerRet is supposed to have same value as VesselTaxPyrRetdVal.

Everything is just messed up.

This is sad.

I just wanted to add that if I try saving records for the first time and I run the debugger, everything comes out fine.

In other words, txBoatRegNum,txTaxPayerRet,txVesselRegNum, txVTaxPayerRet, all come out with correct values.

It is only when the record is already in the DB and I pull them up that they are out of order.

Hi simflex,

Change your procedure by adding the additional column ID so that there will be no mismatch of ItemArray index.

ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[uspGetMarineRecs] 
    @pin int
AS

    select ROW_Number() OVER (ORDER BY(SELECT 0)) ID, MarineRegNo, VesselRegNo, TaxPyrRetdVal, VesselTaxPyrRetdVal

Thank you for your incredible patience and supreme skillset.

Do you think that changing the stored procedure will change how the calling function below is used?

I ask because the four form fields (MarineRegNo,

VesselRegNo, TaxPyrRetdVal, VesselTaxPyrRetdVal that populate Repeater1 when the below function is called is no longer populating.

I can confirm that when I save a record to the database, they are saving correctly but none of the values are populating Repeater1.

I don't know if there is anything change about the function below.

I can't wait till this is over.
